ManTV’s Top 10 Manliest Movies

Alright guys, we’ve sat down for hours and hours trying to brainstorm our top 10 manliest movies of all time. It was tough deciding between male dominated mafia movies and pure action movies. However, we’ve decided to settle for the following as our top 10 choices.

Only The Best of The Best

Based in Hong Kong. No rules, no limits, no p*ssies…Jean Claude Van Damme fights his way through the world’s bloodiest and most brutal sport. Win to survive…and make a few overgrown steroid induced enemies while you’re at it. Why not fall in love and befriend a huge American wrestler/brawler (hacksaw jim duggan). What kind of top ten list would not have this? Gay lists maybe…even then I think the homosexuals would not be able to resist the amount of ripped guys in this movies. The acting is horrible…granted…but the action is so cheesey it’s got to be considered nothing but great! JCVD you have your credit here.

9 ) Die Hard 1

Bruce Willis is known for his bad ass ways, at least back in the past. This movie from 1988 brought Bruce into the scene of mainstream action as he fights off terrorists from an office building. Is one man enough to wipe out a syndicate of terrorists from holding hostages? In the mind of a man…HELL YEAH! My favorite moment of the movie is …

Hans Gruber: Mr. Mystery Guest? Are you still there?
John McClane: Yeah, I’m still here. Unless you wanna open the front door for me.
Hans Gruber: Uh, no, I’m afraid not. But, you have me at a loss. You know my name but who are you? Just another American who saw too many movies as a child? Another orphan of a bankrupt culture who thinks he’s John Wayne? Rambo? Marshal Dillon?
John McClane: Was always kinda partial to Roy Rogers actually. I really like those sequined shirts.
Hans Gruber: Do you really think you have a chance against us, Mr. Cowboy?
John McClane: Yippee-ki-yay, motherfucker. <—priceless moment

(taken from memorable quotes).

Though I guess this being my favorite part is quite cliche…

8 ) Snatch

With an amazing soundtrack, way too much profanity, a superstar cast prior to their mainstream stardom, a lot of blood, killing and substance abuse this movie has got to be up here on the top 10 list. Personally, it’s one of my favorite movies of all time! The ability to mix in the world of mafias/gangs and comedy but keep true to it’s bad ass appeal/aura is sensational. Special mention to Brad Pitt and Jason Stathom. Plus what other movie can you watch where man eating pigs are involved? (literally) However, what else do you expect from a Guy Ritchie movie?

My moment of the movie has to be…

Errol: Fuckface, who’s speaking to you? He asked him, didn’t he?
Turkish: Fuckface… I like that one Errol. I’ll have to remember that one next time I’m climbing off yer mum.

(taken from memorable quotes).

Sly is more buff than he’s ever been for rocky and he’s out to seek vengeance when a Soviet Boxer, Ivan Drago, wins a fight against Rocky’s good old pal Apollo Creed (and kills him in the process). The story line of being the underdog, and fighting you way up to the top and mastering your greatest obstacle is the ambition of every real man (or atleast should be). Rocky IV shows us all that being a winner, being number one doesn’t rely on your opponent but more about yourself. If lessons are learnt to what this movie intended to teach it’s to adopt a never give up attitude and always go in to fulfill your goals and dreams…as well as vengeance >:).

6 ) The good, The bad and The ugly

Come on…this doesn’t need an explanation. No top 10 list is complete without two things. A bad ass western and a Clint Eastwood movie. With that being said… guns blazing and cigar lit aromas fulfill this movies bad ass atmosphere. Special mention goes out to Lee Van Cleef who most people won’t even know but he did an excellent job in this flick. A true bad ass to compliment the iconic Clint Eastwood.

5 ) Predator

Seriously, you thought I was going to miss out on an Arnie movie? In my opinion his most bad ass movie ever! For God’s sake one of the opening scenes he Salutes in an Arm Wrestling manner with Carl Weathers! Ventura (ex wrestler) also added to the cast of ripped testosterone filled actors. I would not like to call them actors really as their acting sucked but the action that came out of these guys and the look they had is truly the definition of man. Awesome blockbuster! It’s a shame I didn’t rate this one higher up on the list.

4 ) Heat

If you don’t know this movie or don’t know why it’s rated this high up on the list (and unfortunate not to achieve a top 3 status) then do all the men in here a favor and just click the “X” on the top right hand side of your window (for windows users) or the red circle on the top left hand side of your browser (for mac users). Seriously…

3 ) Fightclub

Come one, what guy doesn’t want a local underground club to waltz into and just knock the living shit out of each other? Yeah, this movie really brings out the violence in people. I do not recommend you go out and start a fight club, but watching the movie definitely gets you pumped to open a can o’ whoop ass on anyone you see. Again, do not do so because you’ll either get your ass kicked or end up in trouble with the authorities…or maybe even worse. However, the movie really tends subconsciously to men and their natural instincts.

2 ) The Dirty Dozen

Come on, a dozen of crazy ass criminals and psychos who just don’t care whether they live or die. This movie has an all-star cast for it’s time of production. Remember this movie was made and released in 1976 but it doesn’t mean it’s lacking in action or testosterone fueled scenes. This movie is truly a legendary flick. If you haven’t seen it, I highly recommend you run out and order yourself a copy! Truly a magnificent display of insanity absorbed in the minds of men. The movie really makes their actions somewhat…acceptable. Especially with the crazy Nazi killing spree.

Okay, so I know what you’re thinking. Several things actually. First of all you’ve noticed that number 1 is actually more than 1 movie. It’s actually a set of four movies. Simply because I grew up with these two films and they define everything a man should be in their own unique way.

You also might think that I’ve completely overrated these movies and should have placed them lower in the rankings. However, I don’t care…this is my top 10’s list and these are the movies I grew up with and have come to know as my definition of bad ass men.

You will also note I have left some of my favorite manly movies out or dropped them down in the order of the list. I have done this because I simply could not throw away these four movies from being the top spot. I tried to be fair with the other videos and follow discussions from many men around me as well as websites who have discussed this topic. I have tried to be as fair as possible but I know much hate will come regarding my number 1 choice. That’s fair if your train of thought differs – please leave us a comment and let us know what your top 10 manly movies are.
